Joined Burden Bros Agri in late 2012 with the responsibility of day-to-day management of the Framfield Parts Department, providing a customer interface and also co-ordinating workshop requirements for replacement components. So how does Gareth feel about his role and the part he plays within the company? "What I like most about my job is that the company gives me the freedom to implement change in my department, to the benefit of our customers, said Gareth. "Bringing about positive changes, such as recording more detail on customer invoices so they can see precisely what they are getting, to match a specific machine serial number, even if the original part has been superseded – can be very helpful. I also get to liaise between the service and sales department because to ensure customer service is maintained, I need to be on top of every specific customer need. "I am also motivated by maintaining an efficient department, one that doesn't overstock but ensures we have enough for customer demands."

So why do you feel customers like coming back to Burden Bros Agri? "Often I find myself giving customers helpful advice because I can see a better way to help them. I want my customers to come back because with us, they have the best customer experience and they enjoy dealing with our company. The entire ethos of our company is devoted to customer service." "What makes my customers happy, makes me happy," he concluded.

Kris joined Burden Bros Agri in 2009 as an AMS specialist. He is now directly responsible for the direction of the FarmSight division and focuses on pricing, customer advice and recommendations, product support, installation, training and optimisation of precision farming products throughout the Burden Bros Agri territory of Kent, Surrey and Sussex.

So what motivates Kris about his job and responsibilities? "I just love to meet with customers who are looking at precision farming, who may not have any experience of the technology yet", said Kris "then analyse their requirements, make recommendations on what would best suit their farming business and then train their staff to get the best out of the equipment. I enjoy helping them in making a difference in their farming operation. Farming efficiency is what precision farming is all about and it's amazing how many savings can be made from improving crop husbandry techniques and minimising inputs such as seed, fertiliser and chemicals without wasting product, but maximising yield potential. I also specialise in Crop-care, which includes our sprayer range, all manufactured by John Deere. I have total pride in our products and enjoy the 'green-on-green' flexibility of using John Deere products to expand and maximise in-field performance. But I also enjoy helping those farmers who do not yet have John Deere machines, but want to use our GreenStar precision farming technology because it is considered the best in the marketplace."

To help Kris in his job, the company enrols him in extensive training programmes for product and technology, because they see the way forward in having the best staff, fully trained and experienced to benefit the customer base. Kris is a very important member of the entire BBA team.

Andy joined the Framfield branch of Burden Bros Agri in July 2011 as Parts Assistant. He had worked within our industry previously and wanted to get into a sales role. Through development and expansion plans of the company, in February 2012 an opportunity arose as a sales executive, concentrating on 5 Series Specialty Tractors for the Fruit, Vineyards (80% of the UKs fruit is grown in Kent and Sussex), Vegetables and Hop markets. This was a new sector for BBA, which had not been previously developed and because Andy had significant customer facing skills, he was an obvious choice for the role.

From the get-go, Andy hit the ground running, and on his own initiative set about developing a call plan on targeted customers, with a regular follow-up schedule to ensure he developed a solid customer rapport. Today, Andy has made a significant contribution to John Deere market share, BBA sales volume and has introduced us to a large number of potential new customers. So what does Andy enjoy about his role in the company? “I’ve really enjoyed the opportunity to develop a very productive sector of the business for BBA and there’s a whole lot more to do. But I feel very enthusiastic about the future because the results are a reflection of not only my input but on how our company has evolved and that means a very positive future for everyone.”
